I love The Greyboy Allstars and Robert Walters 20th Congress. The New Mastersounds are really good too. They are new to me (funky Brits...who knew?)...kind of Grant Green, Boogooloo Joe Jones-ish.
I just heard The Mighty Imperials for the first time the other day are they are pretty damn good too. Nice and funky. They've got an album called Thunder Chicken that's really funky.
Good idea for a post. I will be checking back to see what gets posted. Always looking for more funk in my life.

If you havne't heard Sharon Jones, I'd highly recommend her. Her live shows are sooooooo much fun (she pulls audience members on stage to dance with her).
There is actually a ton of good funk on youtube. Lots of stuff I've never heard before.
Here's a great one, with one of the best comments I've ever seen. Here's the video:
Big Black Funky Slave
The comment (haha):
"if i ever built a time machine, travelled back to the early seventies, got behind the wheel of a huge cadillac and went cruising around the ghetto picking up hookers, then this is the song i would play on my eight track while doing it"
Yeah, I could talk about funk all day. And damn, the Europe 72 box just arrived, too much music to listen to :)
